Orsett v Horndon on the Hill Sunday Indoor X1 on Sun 29 Jan 2006 at 11.05am
Horndon on the Hill Lost
A very exciting game which Horndon lost narrowly and should have won. Having posted a decent score which could quite easily have been around the 140 mark if Daryl Millards last over hadn't tied skipper Baz Stanley up in knots (he only went for 2 off his last over and they were wides!),Horndon only lost 2 wickets against a useful Orsett side.
They got off to a great start in the field by getting rid of Paul Shaw and Kevin Sargent fairly cheaply but Dean Cass dug in whilst others fell around him. Some pretty awful bowling did not help Horndon's cause, with too many wides being bowled at crucial times.Going into the last over Orsett needed just 6 runs to win with Cass the only man left standing, but 2 wides were bowled and Cass picked off a couple of easy singles, but on the fourth ball of the over he took a risky run to the corner which Jack Walsh just failed to get into Ted's waiting hands at the stumps -- the guy backing up would have been out by a yard if it had hit the stumps or got to Ted.
In terms of points though,Horndon picked up 11 whilst Orsett only managed 14 due to the fact they only took 2 wickets,so there's still a lot to play for and the boys will look to get back to winning ways against Grays in 2 weeks time.
