Horndon on the Hill Won 7 runs
A top effort from the midweek 2's,beating an on-form Stanford side who were riding high on a good win the previous week over the Pegs. Ted & Walshy found the going tricky for the first 5 overs,with the Stanford bowlers keeping tight lines and runs being hard to come by. From being 31 for 1 from the first 6 overs the boys did well to get to 94 from 12,Willsy not out on 35 and Walshy getting 21.
Stanford also found the first half of their innings tough going,Willsy in particular bowled very well and they were 2 wickets down by the halfway stage. Then Crooksy struck and took a couple of quick wickets to put the pressure on,but with 9 required from the last over and one of their openers back from retirement,Stanford really should have wrapped the game up. But first the number 6 bat ran himself out and 2 balls later Rob Page had a brainstorm and did the same,to leave three balls remaining in the innings and Horndon 2's with 20 points.
An unexpected but well-deserved victory for the 2's in the end.
